Malcolm McKinnell takes on the London to Brighton Bike Ride: Riding in support of the British Heart Foundation
Our founder, Malcolm McKinnell, recently participated in the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton bike ride, tackling a challenging course on Father’s Day. Despite some tough hills and warm weather, he persevered and enjoyed the rewarding atmosphere at the finish line in Brighton. His experience was both physically demanding and incredibly satisfying, capped off by the cheers from the crowd and a well-deserved cold drink.
BHF London To Brighton Bike Ride Written by Malcolm McKinnell
On Sunday 15 June, Father’s Day, I attempted the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton bike ride. It was a challenge! We left Clapham Common at 8.00AM on a lovely bright morning and it seemed that it would be a very gentle ride. However, we soon reached the North Downs and some steep hills and as the day got warmer it was not as easy as I had earlier thought. After several stops to fill up with energy bars and protein juices (and a bacon roll) we reached the dreaded Ditchling Beacon – a climb of a mile which takes every last bit of energy out of you! Fortunately, after that it was downhill all the way to Brighton, and it was wonderful being cheered on by hundreds of people on the seafront. All that remained was to find a long cold beer!
