Ward Williams Creative Ltd are looking to recruit a mixed Tax adviser.

A progressive firm based in Kingston, with an additional office in Central London providing wide ranging business solutions for small and medium sized businesses.

As a small sized accountancy firm, we provide a wide range of services including Audit and Accounts, Tax Compliance, Tax Planning, Payroll, Financial Planning, HR and Company Secretarial.

The role will be reporting directly to the partner.

Job description

This is a mixed tax role, partly working on the Corporation Tax side, mainly working on specialist claims such as VGTR, R&D, Film Tax and other creative industry reliefs, as well as the usual Corporation Tax and reporting forms for businesses.

The other part of the role is covering Personal Tax for company directors and sole traders within the creative sectors. Drafting complex personal tax returns, and reviewing mainstream returns prepared by others in the team.

Offering tax advice to both personal and corporate clients.

Personal tax

  • Managing a portfolio of clients
  • Processing & reviewing self-assessment tax returns
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities
  • Undertaking general tax compliance work

Corporate tax

  • Managing a portfolio of clients
  • Processing & reviewing corporation tax returns
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities
  • Undertaking general tax compliance work
  • Preparing company benefit forms P11D, PSA
  • EMI returns and set up
  • EIS/ SEIS advance assurance applications and certificates
  • VGRT, Film Tax, R&D claims

General

  • Reporting to the directors
  • Liaising with the rest of the team
  • Proactive management of clients and their deadlines

To be considered for this opportunity you must have:  

  • Experience of working in a mixed tax senior role in practice
  • Good exposure on both personal and corporate tax
  • Experience of reviewing personal tax returns prepared by junior staff
  • Prepare complex personal tax and offer tax planning advice to clients
  • Can handle R & D claims from start to finish, including initial consultation with clients, drafting the report, perform cost analysis, submitting returns, liaise with HMRC regards any queries raised
  • Minimum 5 years in a tax role, in which 2 years in a tax senior equivalent role
  • CTA qualified
  • Proficient in mainstream tax areas, including Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Property Tax and Inheritance Tax
  • Good working knowledge of specialist corporate tax areas, including R & D
  • Commutable to Kingston Upton Thames is essential
  • Occasional travel to Central London may be required to attend clients’ meeting in our Waterloo office
